Quick derail, but this is one fun song to sing and play, and the entire album, is a ( if you love Neil) a masterpiece!

My two favorite short solos ever:

    1. Diary of a Madman, Randy Rhoads
    2. You're No Good, Eddie Van Halen

Tons on Beatles records, sometimes just short awesome fills you wish would go on longer, like the little guitar thing near the end of "Got to get you into my life"

Jimmy Page's first solo in "The Song Remains the Same." Kicks in at about 0:50 and lasts like 10 seconds. Love it.

Already stated I know but just about everything by Brian May.

They are always tasteful and fit the song and the best ones are inventive and memorable as well ...perfect.

This solo still kills me. Try to cop it. Never gets mentioned so glad to see someone post it.

And the sound of the guitars. Paul said they had full treble on everything. The amps, and the board then full treble when they mixed it.

Correct. One of the few things he played on that record.

The GH parts at the end of The End are wonderful, especially the arpeggio right after the “...you make” line. Another I like is the acoustic stuff played during the humming verse of Mother Nature’s Son. Not sure if that is Paul or George. And not sure I’d call it a “solo” so much as perfect lead accompaniment.

Just now breezed thru this enjoyable thread wondering if this had yet to be shared. The brilliance & talent of Michael Schenker in 16 short seconds [begins @ 2:02]:

And this one just fits the song so nicely.

I should have mentioned the lead in Bus Stop by the Hollies in my earlier post.

Two that come to mind are Kiss Saints and Sinners , solo by Vinnie Vincent (!) and Al Stewart Year of the Cat.

A lesser known cool one is James Mankey of Concrete Blond on the song Caroline

#1 for me though has to be Steely Dan -Peg

Edit - now I remembered another two...One of these nights and Those Shoes by The Eagles
