I'd exchanged a couple of emails a while back with GVCG about ordering a lefty S style. I recently sent some follow up as I am ready to take the plunge, but haven't heard back. I did see on here that he might be moving his shop right now, which could explain the radio silence. Any of you guys know him and/or if he's still building guitars? Any better way to reach him?

thanks.

He's no longer taking orders for S style guitars.

I think he is just in the process of moving to a new shop. I have sent him a couple of emails about where I should send some parts and I haven't heard back yet. If anyone knows a better way to contact him will you fill me in?

It seems like all of the great builders are stopping production of S guitars. GVCG makes builder number 3

Jonathan is in California as of yesterday and will be setting up
shop in Topanga Canyon. There is no phone # as of yet but I
speak with him every night via email. He will only be making
certain "T" models moving forward, and they are the most
magnificent "T"s available IMO. The '53 Blackguard, the '55
Flatpole, the '57 Whiteguard and the 60's Slab Boards will be
his main focus.

Give him a minute to get settled and he will be back up and
running. He's been building 5 guitars for me and so far all of
the ones delivered were ahead of schedule and far surpassed
my expectations in terms of tone and playability. The best
sounding, playing and recording "S" and "T" style guitars I
have ever had my hands on, and his attention to detail in
the looks department is unequalled by any by a huge margin.

I currently have a '53 Blackguard, the '59 Ultimate "S" and the
'55 Ultimate "T". Jonathan is in the process of finishing a '57
Mary K "S" and a '63 Blonde Slab Board "T" for me.

There are no legal issues or any problems of that nature. The "S"
style guitars are just too demanding and time consuming for
someone who does everything by hand. That coupled with
the fact that he is building some of the finest "T" style guitars
ever makes the path clear. The focus will be on the "T" models.

You should all be hearing from him shortly. The radio silence is not deliberate, it's just the end result of packing up your shop
and driving it cross country, having 3 trucks overheat and die
in the mojave desert etc.........

Great! He'll be just up the road from me. Time to start saving for the '53 Blackguard.

I hope he wasn't in the desert on monday. I drove back from Vegas on monday to LA. It was 122 in the desert and I was praying that my car wouldn't melt

There will be a new address and contact information for
Jonathan and GVCG shortly. He is currently in the process of
shopping for a new location and as soon as there is any news
we will be sure to post it everywhere. In the meantime the best
way to make contact is still through the GVCG website which will
remain intact and will continue to be the best resource for
keeping up with Jonathan and GVCG:

So, for all your "T" style guitar needs, don't hesitate to drop a
line.......

Jonathan has signed a lease for the new GVCG compound in
Los Angeles. He's very excited as he's found an ideal location
where he can spray nitro to his hearts content. He will begin
setting up the new shop on Monday, August 1st. If all goes
according to plan, he will be sanding lacquer within the next 2
to 3 weeks. His plan is to work relentlessly until he is caught up
on all back orders and then he will get back to designing some
of the most incredible "T"s ever and get those posted on the
GVCG site for those who wish to buy a finished masterpiece.

Stay tuned for more updates. If you have any questions feel free
to email me direct. and you can contact Jonathan at GVCG through
his website :

It all depends on what appointments you want. You really need
to contact Jonathan and put the guitar together with him to
get an accurate price. Price is one area where I cannot speak
on Jonathan's behalf. I'm just a friend and customer helping him
with his move and transition.
