1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

    Hi everybody!!

My name's Ian Miller, I've been a gigging guitarist in the PDX area for about 28 years (I started very young), and have played a variety of styles, and in fact still do! About 10 years ago I became a dyed-in-the-wool Telecaster plucker, and while classic country, swing, r&b, and 60's lounge/ez-listening/
pop are pretty much my favorite stuff to play, I am now fully re-embracing my rock roots due to joining a live-band karaoke group (much cooler than it may sound). With that, the need for detailed opinions on current pedals of all stripes (as well as a member's recommendation or two) has
sent me here, and I have barely scratched the surface!

I also play both console and pedal steel guitar.

Look forward to many hours lost here!

Hi Ian. I played in a karaoke group once and it turned out to be a good experience. We had some decent singers show up a lot of the time and we got to improvise a lot. So, is "Portlandia" at all on the money?

Yes and no, some of the observations/gags could be true of most metro cities these days, but certainly we are the city of "got a wacky business idea? Go for it!". The costume designs for various characters are hilariously on the money, though!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody!
