yeah I've played one - excellent mid priced Gretsch.
Doesn't interest me cos it has Broadtron humbucker pups instead of Blacktop Filtertrons.

Broadtrons are good PAF style humbuckers but don't deliver the classic Gretsch tone - you need either filtertrons or dynasonics for that. Gretsch make plenty of other 54 and 56 series Electromatics with Blacktop Filtertrons :)

I see no need to replace them. So it sounds good to me. So the guitar was made very well. Cool. :aok

I have a G6159 Broadkaster Jr - and I like the size of the guitar, but I agree that Broadtrons (or Full'trons in my Jr) are not classic Gretsch pickups. I have not played an Electromatic Jr, but I am impressed with Gretsch QA/QC. I have a MIC G5238 Pro Jet and it's a fine instrument.

5422 owner here. Those blacktop filtertrons are something else. Might be my favourite pups ever. I'm seriously considering buying another one (different colour) because I love them so much.
