So...I'm gearing up to order a custom Tele from Woosley Guitars...Tim is new to building, but is a friend, and I've played a couple of his guitars and they were great.

Anyway, in asking my wife what color she likes, her response was orange, which is my 3-year old's favorite color. I'd never considered an orange Tele before, but I think with a pearl guard, pearl binding and a Gretsch Orange finish, it should be a beaut. Question is: are the orange Gretschs a solid color or more like a stain? We've just now got a GC here, and the one time I was in there I saw an orange Gretsch, but I'll be darned if I'm going back in that joint. So, what can you tell me? Or, better yet, SHOW me?

    Thx,
    The Panda

It's stain. Affectionately known as 6120 Orange.

Here's another option--see through Gretsch orange, with tortoise binding and guard. I ordered the Harmonic Design pickups tortoise topped too, to complete the look. Keep in mind that the orange stain will vary, depending on the wood you use--this top is birdseye maple.

The reflection in the pickguard is my 3-rail fence--really completes the cowboy theme!

LOVE that Tele! Not surprisingly, tortoise is my second choice, and I've always thought that matching the pup covers to the guard is ultracool. Unfortunately, I came across a great deal on a Rio Grande Nashville set that doesn't have the fancy covers so I'll be left with black...which is part of the reason that I'm favoring pearl for the binding and guard, the pups will contrast nicely. That is THE orange, though!:AOK

Here's my Anderson in 6120 orange. Hamer also has a cool orange, kind of a translucent metalic orange.

Nice, nice, nice. I'll be loving the pearl guard...together with the orange, it just gives off a tasty "Orange Creamsickle" kind of vibe. Tasty!

I would say it's transparent dye or kandy color. Maybe a stain and a trans orange on top?????

    Hi Moozak,
Thanks very much for the comment. I'm pleased you like it. That Strat is a bit special to me, the 'star' of my collection.
