Im looking to replace my Picture Wah. :hide2
Too bright, not enough "growl" for me...

IM sure other have found this in the PicWah.

What else have you tried ?
I need that No Quarter (TSRTS) growling wah tone.

Zakk Wylde wah!

(I'm dead serious)

Unreal low end, it's cheap used and looks great! Mine growls wonderfully.

Wheels of Fire has far more body and really great, adjustable sound. PGS did a video way back that is still on youtube. I have a picture wah and find it too bright where the WoF is just right!

Wheels of Fire is so tweakable - modeled after an SG into a Marshall Plexi, so should suit your set up. I love mine. Have you tried a Budda? I have one of those too and it does have a good midrange honk too.

I have a Wilson Signature wah that replaced my RMC Picture wah. It can be as bright as a picture wah or with a tweak of the pot it can be more tame on the top end, there is also a trim pot on the board for dialing in more growl...it's actually called growl!

It's a fantastic wah, I had mine built with NOS tropical fish caps, a buffer for use with a fuzz and non true bypass switching just because but Kevin will build them pretty muich any way you want!

He makes a great wah at a great price with a lot of great options and has as good of customer service as anybody inthe business!

I'll bet that Mr. Teese would be happy to tweak the circuit for you to suit your needs. Raising the input cap value is quick and easy.

Your Picture wah doesn't growl? Maybe something's wrong with it...mine growls and cuts through at the same time. I love it every time I stomp on it, and I have one of the very first ones Teese made 6-7 or more years ago. The Wheels of Fire Wah wasn't modeled after a SG into a Marshall. My understanding is that it's essentially a Coloursound clone with tweakability.

Um, just move the pot a couple of clicks. . .It will save you a lot of money and time.

Crap...another year of not getting along. :puh

1) Communicate your needs to Teese and see what he says. We've spoken a few times and he's very cool.

2) Look for a Maestro Boomerang or Boomerang 2, they can still be found for around $100 and are very cool.

3) In lieu of a Maestro try and find a Duovox Wah-Volume and mod it to be just wah. They can be found for even less than the Maestro.

I'm about to sell my Pic Wah, I like my Clyde clone better.
I'm heading towards the HBE Medicine Bawl Wah. From what I heard it's pretty growly.

Tell us about your clyde clone...

It's nothing spectacular, it has carbon comp resistors, greenie & styroflex caps, BC109B transistors, an old ArielFX halo inductor and an old hot potz II that I will upgrade to an Arteffect pot.
It just sound better to my ears. It's a fuller, rounder sound.
It's hard to describe but my Picture wah sounds more resonant. When I do A/B's with dirt, the difference is really noticeable, the Picture Wah sounds thinner & artificial.

You have / had a Bonnie wah, how does it compare to the Picture wah ?

Bonnie wah was great. Most of the high end wahs are great. My "issue" is that I haven't found a single wah that sounds great for everything that I like to do. For example, the fulltone sounds great for funky rhythm stuff but for the wailing human cry tones it doesn't do it for me like the area 51 or sig wah. The sig wah is very adjustable but I couldn't get it to cover the rhythm stuff the same way as the fulltone. The pic wah was similar. It covered certain things great and other things not so great. I often wonder if hendrix used several wahs with different characteristics.

I have an old thomas organ stack of dimes wah that i'd like to mod into something great someday...

just wanted to mention that teese is amazing. Great product, impeccable support. I once had a wah of his where the pot went bad and he sent me (2) replacement pots for free.
