I just retubed a friends Blues Deville after he blew a fuse. The amp had original tubes in it an I figured that one of the 6l6s had just given up the ghost. I retubed it with some gt black plates and after about a month one shorted.

I thought that the issue was amp and have gone through it and can't see anything obvious. I have dropped in a set of pulls and the amp is running fine......

anything else I shoudl check,

voltages are all good.

What bias setting did you use?

These tubes have no higher of a failure rate than any other new production tube, but when you have one out of 2 fail, the rate seems like 50%.

...uh, actually, you need to know how many tubes were in that production lot or batch (called the population) to set a real "percentage failure rate" not just in his "sample" of two that came from that population.
Uh, I know. I was just taking the perspective of the user who gets stuck with one bad out of 2 tubes ;)
