Guild Starfire III; Compton Bridge and Doug's Plugs

I am the proud owner of a Guild Starfire III. A true hollowbody just dripping with tone.

There are a couple of shout outs that I want to give to two great guys.

The first goes to Wayne Compton. Wayne built me a copper compensated bridge that has taken my Starfire to a whole new level. The original bridge was robbing this guitar of it's full potential. When I put on the copper bridge the guitar became warm and less ice picky. The sustain increased as well. I had no idea that a bridge could make such a difference. I cannot recommend Wayne's work enough. Check out his website below.

Plug number 2 (no pun intended) goes to Dougs plugs. Doug designed some nice F whole fillers (see pic) for my hollowbody to eliminate a lot of the feedback problem that a true hollowbody has. They look great and are a better solution than shoving some towels inside your hollowbody or taping off the holes. Check out Doug's website for more info if you are interested.

Super cool axe. I want a Starfire really badly, but they are really hard to come by in lefty.

That bridge looks great.

JDubb:

How effective are those plugs? Have you had hollow bodies with soundposts to compare?

Thanks

I've owned 3 other hollowbodies and these plugs make a big difference in a live setting. You can still get a little bit of feedback but it is very controlled with these plugs. Thanks for your question.

I ordered a set of Dougs Plugs based on this thread, but it's been 4 weeks and I've not heard a thing back, nor received the plugs. :omg
