Got there early yesterday with a couple friends. The deals all sucked, except one.

They had several NEW Eventide Timefactors and Modfactors priced at $278.44!

Yep, I picked up a new Timefactor for less than $300.

I talked to a manager and he said they special ordered one for someone and Eventide made them order 5. Since they don't normally keep them in stock they are just trying to get rid of them. Once again, GC stupidity pays off for me!

How is it stupid that GC ordered a Piece of gear for a customer? It isn't GCs fault that eventide makes people order 6 at a time.

They could have held on to them for a week or two and sold them at a price resembling normal.

    Wow, so cynical!

I'm hanging onto this one. It seems like it's going to suit my needs very well. But I will be selling my Digilog Delay however.

All I am saying is that they ordered something for 1 customer. Knowing they were going to have 5 left over ( of a piece of gear they don'y normally carry ). They sold them at a sale for a good deal and didn't lose any money. 1 Customer got taken care of. 5 more saved money. GC actually had a "deal" on a big event type sale. Sounds like a win win for everyone and nobody lost in that deal.

My GC salesman called me last week and told me about the sale. I was there at 8AM Monday morning. I live in a small town and drove 100 miles. I had been to last years sale and bought some really nice stuff. I did not see a single good deal! I was miffed. They were really proud of some overpriced new Marshall stack that came with a "free" Gibson faded LP Special or something like that -Blah! Ended up buying a six pack of sticks for my drummer. I think the new owners really are trying to get into (ruin) the business. Very disappointing!

Ever since they started paying the salesmen on commission the deals have gone in the toilet.

They have been on commission for over 7 years. What do you mean?

I worked there. We were not on commission. It was less than 7 years ago.

Yes, this was the worst of the last 4 Memorial day sales I have been to there. However they did send me a FREE 20 dollar gift card in the mail a few days before... so I bought some strings and a new guitar stand and saved 20 bucks off of the normal price. So that was nice.. just no really cool pieces of other gear left over like in years past.

Still my good friend who is the number one salesguy at my local store says his sales are about the same since they switched to the no haggle pricing. But he has a huge client base as he has worked there since 1998... he said some others are hurting a little bit more as they don't have as many loyal customers yet.

Guitar Center sale days remind me of Mattress stores.

Every day is just another excuse for a big sale.

Funny. I really can not remember the last time I stoped in a GC.
