Unless it's some rare collectible item, I really don't care what anyone else does with something they bought.

LOL...True...I was being a bit facetious. I'm pretty sure that the joint on a glued-in neck guitar will eventually take a beating...:rotflmao

I don't bend the neck of my Gibson, but I do it all the time on my Mexican Strat. What's the point of having a Mexican Strat if you can't get nasty with it?

Hendrix didn't play guitar the way other people thought you were supposed to either.

Screw the rules, break the instrument, who cares?

Just make that hunk of wood and wire give up the music any way you can.

Forgot about the abuse SRV put on his guitars, nobody ever told him what to do or not to do to his guitars I am sure.

I've been doing it for 40 years. As long as you aren't trying to go down a minor 3rd I suppose it's okay! But I do play Telecasters mostly and they are pretty stout! I once had a gig back break open on me, as a result I had the horror of watching my guitar tumble down a concrete staircase! It was beat to hell as a result, but it was also still in tune!

I don't see why what someone chooses to do with their own guitar would bother you. :huh

It would bother me if someone did it to one of my guitars, but I really couldn't care less what someone chooses to do with their own guitar. :dunno

A lot of older SG's tend to favor care with the neck joint, as the union's not the best, though like you say with most all other guitars (including bolt-ons) tugging on them won't hurt 'em, as long as you're not too brutal.

When Michael Schenker does it, it's cool because he is godlike.

I wouldn't try it because I am a mere mortal.

I don't care what anyone else does with their guitars.

I was at a Bob Seger concert in the early 80s and Drew Abbott did a power dive with an old Les Paul Goldtop. It was very dramatic as he bent the neck. What the crowd didn’t see was his left hand on the low E tuner as he pretended to bend the neck. What a showman!

I like to think that innovation starts with one simple rule: there are no rules.

It is not a technique I use, but it doesn’t bother me when others do it. Some people can really make it work for them. Like the above mentioned Michael Schenker.

I wouldn't bend a LP neck too far, but with my SG, I can't help but bend the neck.

According to Santana, if you do LSD your guitar neck will bend on its own like a snake.

Edit: Whoops, I goofed. It was mescaline, not LSD. I should have known this since I just finished reading his autobiography.

personally i don't do that. but it's for show as well besides the note change. with teles.....they do tend to be indestructible. if someone sits in with a band and uses a borrowed guitar and does that without the owner knowing he'll do that to the neck.......not cool. otherwise, if it's your guitar play and enjoy :munch
