    I figured this thread would turn out to be mostly just a listing of people's favorites. If I were "serious" about this, I'd either cull from the list of nominees and demand some support based on the criteria for why they belong or get a committee together to share the glory/blame to create the final listing. I think we've covered most of the obvious contenders though.

    I don't think the historical significance of my list can be argued with. I could add P13's to the list too. My "favorites" would be the Dearmonds, Staples, P90's. Never played a real '54 Strat, so who knows, but I am 100% sure I would love it.

    I will add Gold Lace Sensors to the list for being the first and only low noise Strat pickup that is a true single coil. And yes, those are a favorite.

    I'd say Wilde Microcoils are also low noise true single coils, so I wouldn't say "only" for the Gold Lace Sensors.

    I'd be tempted to add Lace Alumitones and a few others just for innovation, but they lack several of the other criteria.

    EDIT. I've never played one I like better than the original Rick design.
