Tim Cavalieri, 41, a former night maintenance man at the college's Billy Graham Center, was convicted by a DuPage County jury in April. The Elburn resident stole a 1983 Fender Stratocaster Elite, a Charvel Surfcaster and an Ibanez AR in March 2007 from a locked storage room, authorities said. The theft was discovered when Bruce Knowlton, owner of the guitars and a college department manager, noticed them missing. After making a report to the college's Public Safety Department, Knowlton checked online auction site eBay and found a sales listing and picture of his Fender with a minimum bid of $2,800. He later discovered that the two other guitars had been sold for more than $1,500. Cavalieri claimed he thought the guitars had been abandoned.
