Yeah, it was a lot of fun. The tracks have turned out great, we still have another day of guitars to do. The producer opted for a pleasing asymmetrical rhythm tone that really fills out the mix, different guitars/amps on each sidd. I'm excited to hear it with bass as well, and we'll be doing that this upcoming weekend. The drums were recorded in a live orchestra room, there are pictures of that in the Hopefield blog section as well. With a nice mix of the close mics and room mics we got a tone that sounds more incredible than any reverb Pro Tools could dish out! Huge tones. Overall, I'm very excited, the finished product will be done within a month.

We had scratch guitar and bass tracks to play to when needed. The real bass tracking is on Saturday. I believe we have an Ampeg SVT Classic for that.

Yeah, I've heard of them. I think he finished a recording of theirs in the past few months.

What's up with the mic placement on the AC30?

It looks like the mics are at the very bottom of the speaker. Plus, the amp is sitting on the ground which means that the mics are picking up TONS of low frequencies. I don't see how the engineer would get anything but mud.

That baffle on the Vox looks like it is holding only one speaker. Are you sure it's not an AC15?

it's a pretty deceiving picture angle...the mics were actually fairly high.

and yeah, e-z, it is an ac30cc1. Fun little amp!
