Do you buy the Peterson app once or do you have to renew it or something? And you just use the mic on the iphone?

I use the Fender tuner app. It works the best out of the lot for me. They all get confused if someone else is playing nearby. But why not just put a Snark on your headstock like most everyone else does? I've got a pile of them, want me to mail you one? Just kidding, I'm far too lazy to mail one to you, but you can buy one pretty cheap. On second thought, if you can tell me a really good joke and I laugh, I'll mail you one for free.

I like the Peterson app. You can also purchase an adapter to plug your guitar into the phone or a headstock clip that plugs into the phone.

I’ll second pitch lab. The free version worked well enough, but the full version is 10x better.

The microphone/input is same no matter which app you get.

I use this as well and love it. Also has an adapter you can buy that lets you plug your guitar in.

I like the Fender tuner app also.

The free version has auto tuning, plus a manual tune by ear option.

The Pro version is .99 cents.

There is also a player pack for $4.99 with the pro tuner, a scale app, a chord app, and a metronome with practice beats app.

I tend to use the metronome often.

I also have a killer joke. But, I have a Snark. So I’ll let someone else win that. (Make sure you don’t laugh reading that).

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were going camping. They pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes woke Watson up and said: "Watson, look up at the sky, and tell me what you see."

Watson replied: "I see millions and millions of stars."

Holmes said: "And what do you deduce from that?"

Watson replied: "Well, if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like Earth out there. And if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be life."

And Holmes said: "Watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent."

I prefer the Petersone iStrobosoft. I just lay the phone on the guitar face by the bridge and tune up with the guitar flat on my lap for electrics, acoustic guitars work well with the contact method or using the phone mic.

Can't speak to the others, but I like the Kyser app that came out last year.

    Clean, simple interface:

The Fender Tune app - but I only use it in the guitar store.

At home it's the old Peterson strobo stomp for electric and the closest snark (usually the one already on the headstock) for acoustics. I never bother with using my phone at home when either of those options are readily available.
