Curious to see if anyone has or knows someone that has purchased a guitar from guitarfetish.com? They have some inexpensive stuff that looks great but idk.....................................
I have an an XV-910. It looks like a Casino, but it has a center block and 19th fret joint like a 335. It was under $300 shipped. Some people talk of needing to have the frets leveled, but mine was good out of the box. It's not a vintage 335, but it doesn't cost vintage 335 money. As always, YMMV.
from reading many, many reviews, and from my brother's personal experience, their QC is inconsistent and most of the guitars need a little TLC. But there are many who are happy with their Xavieres.
Pickups are a mixed bag. But that's true of all pups. I really like their Mean 90's and their strat rails. Strat sc's, not so much. Dream 180's, icepicky.
Shipping times have increased as of late. Customer service used to be the best but it's gone down hill lately.
I've bought a few pickups from GFS and all have been very good (especially for the price). I bought a semi-hollow les paul style guitar from them that was less than stellar. That's kind of turned me off from trying any of their other guitars. But it's possible it's a quality control issue. You could order from them and get a very good guitar.
I've tried Dream90's, Mean90's, and Retrotron Liverpools. I thought the Dream90's were kind of anemic, the Mean90's were great but didn't sound at all like P90's. Same goes for the Retrotrons, they sound really cool but nothing at all like Filtertrons.
IME If you buy them based upon the name, you'll be disappointed, if you buy them based upon the sound clips, you'll be happy.
I think this is true. Bought his vintage '59's recently & I think they sound as advertised, I love them. They went into a Kramer Focus 2000 I honestly didn't want to put a lot of $ into, & I'm really happy with them.
I don't remember the wait/delivery time, but it was normal & this was right around the holidays.
Bought and still have one of their 'strats'. I had one of their semi-hollow teles and found it to be too neck heavy and unbalanced so returned it.
I don't have a problem with them and they're excellent beginners guitars. I can understand how a more discerning musician would not be satisfied but they wouldn't even be considering a guitar under $300 anyway.
You do get what you pay for. That's not always bad. It's just the value menu of guitars. Don't count on their CS though. I had a defect and they wouldn't respond.
