I understand GnR and PJ are rather popular here. Killing Joke? Not so much, though there are cheerfully a handful of enlightened adherents.

New project featuring Jaz Coleman on vocals.

It'd be lovely to see this be a gateway of discovery to Killing Joke for the hordes of GnR and PJ fans but I reckon that'd be a slim subset of those with enough curiosity to seek it out.

    But one can hope.

I have to admit, Duff, Barrett and Mike did a great job with the Stooges songs (Mark Arm singing, natch) for the KEXP Raw Power thing, so I think they make a great band together. I bet this will be alright.

    you forgot "+Screaming Trees".

i think for the most part this is Mike from PJ and Barrett from ST trying to push forward with older ideas they had as a follow-up to the Mad Season album. Duff filled in on the Mad Season show they did with Cornell last year, and also played with McCready, Martin, and Mark Arm on a Stooges set for KEXP that they played on the top of the Public Market in Seattle last year.

They had tried to work on some of this stuff for better part of a decade now, with Lanegan as proposed singer. Nice to have Jaz take that spot.

Their website does a nice job of communicating the power and influence Killing Joke held for all of them.

Certainly nice to see credit given where its mercilessly overdue.

Not bad. Jaz's voice (and Killing Joke in general) are woefully underrated.

    From the article,
But Jaz is just the first in a handful of select singers who will be putting words and voice to the music of the Levee Walkers. More walkers are coming, as they emerge from the shadows.

I am genuinely curious. I'll take a look at the link when I get home.

Pearl Jam and GnR are two of my most disliked bands of the 90s era.

Killing Joke is one of my favorite bands of the 80s era.

I use to work out to that Killing Joke album that Dave Grohl played drums on, I think its self titled. That album is just primal and savage. Somehow the repetitive guitar riffs never get old, they just drill it into your skull.

Count me among those interested in checking this out, if fo no other reason than to check the box. Those guys are good rock musicians. I'd half suspect that if you put them in a room long enough, they can come up with something that doesn't suck. :)

Pylon is utterly devastating. They keep going deep into the well and coming up inspired, fresh and vital now that the original lineup is intact.

Got the 7" vinyl yesterday. Great stuff by some great players....

Duff and Barrett collaborated (McCready was on a song or two also) a few years ago with "Walking Papers". I'd suggest giving it a listen. Good stuff.

I would love to hear what they would do with Lanegan......hopefully he's on their list to record with.
