I have a pair of these that I had been running in a Germino 2x12 cab.

I recently got a new amp (Engl Ironball) and Dr Z 2x12 cab wth a G12H30 and a V30. After about a week the V30 midrange thing got on my nerves and I pulled both of the speakers out and put in my well broken in Guytrons..

Sounded great, warm, no more zingy midrange.

But I lost a little lowend so I put the G12H30 in the bottom and it sounds awesome.

Fat, ballsy, warm with plenty of snarl and bite and clarity.

    My question is this:
For those that have ran the Big Tone 55s what other speaker would you say it compares to out right now?

I have been out of the gear junkie stage for some time.

I might want to try a newer speaker to mix with the G12H30.

    Thanks

Pretty sure this is a Vintage 30 clone, so I would look into the Warehouse Veteran, or maybe the Eminence Governor.

I don't think they sound like a V30 which to me always have this annoying midrange unless they are pushed pretty hard in a closed back.

I owned a Guytron and when I spoke with them they told me it was based off of a Vintage 30 design. Take it for what it's worth. I owned a GT100FV and a GT20 at one time.

I had heard that as well and that it was a "smoother" sounding speaker.

They said this, "Like a well worn in Vintage 30".
