    Hey y'all,

I'm doing a pickup upgrade on an H-S-H guitar. Should I order a RW/RP single coil for the middle, or just use a regular one?

    Thanks,

    Stormin!

With humbuckers on either side of it you will have have 3 coils going in the in-between position (two from the humer and the singel coil) so rwrp would not help (I dontl think) becuasea yo would have an un-even numer of coils so that would not cancell out the hum.

right. it'll only matter if you get a super-switch, which gives you the ability to choose which coil of the humbucker you're combining with the middle single coil.

Get the RWRP if you plan on have push/pull pots for coil tapping. Otherwise it's not going to do anything for you.

    Not quite true.

I have HSH with an RWRP middle pickup, and have it wired so that the humbuckers auto-split in positions 2 and 4 without the need of push/pull pots. I believe this is the standard Ibanez Jem wiring.

ahh, good thinking , the auto split would be ideal in that situation.
