Anyone play one of these guitars? What do you think?

    LesPaul sounding?

How's the quality compared to PRS?

The tops and colors on the newer ones seem pretty darn nice.

I have a bunch of them. I much prefer Hamers over PRS, Hamer would rate the average PRS "10 top" as AA, where the stuff you see on teh Wilcutt site are more like AAAAA.

PRS guitars are much more machine made than Hamers.

Once you get use to the easy access to the 22nd fret you will never go back to the heel from hell w/ PRS IMO.

Another USA Studio Custom player here. I have 2 of them actually. Far closer to LP tone than any PRS, that's for certain. Better quality IMO as well. My roomate has a mccarty and a cu22 and there's no way I'd trade either of my Hamer's for one of em.

I love my studio custom. Tonally it hits the LP territory although the build quality is far beyone Gibson. I love my PRS equally for different reasons. I think the quality is close when comparing PRS to Hamer. The top on my Hamer is spectacular...

Here are some pics of mine.

Awesome guitars. I'd say the build quality was right on par with my McCarty, if not better. Tone was at least as good, too.

Used hamers are an amazing bang for your buck guitars.

    Score: 30+ PRS guitars
    Score: 9 Hamer USA guitars

Final after 10 years? Hamer USA 1, PRS 0.

    :D

I have owned and loved many PRS guitars and enough Hamers to tell you that Hamer is a match for quality, craftmanship, materials and outscores PRS for electronics and attention to details inside the electronics cavity.

I loved my PRS guitars, but I LOVE my 95 Hamer Custom Studio. I bought it used for a song to be a live backup guitar; it ended up as my #1 live guitar for years and I still love it. I added WCR Darkburst pickups and TonePros hardware and man, this guitar kills me everytime I play it.

The Hamer Custom is every bit as good as a PRS as far as quality. Both companies have great customer service.

The Hamers edge out the PRS in a few ways.

Hamer uses a tunamatic style bridge as apposed to the dreded wrap around found on many PRSi

Hamers come stock with better pickups IMO

Hamers sound fatter and more LP like.

and for my favorite...Hamers are a deal on the used market.
