I picked up this Murkat Special last week.....just got it yesterday. This guitar started its life as a 1982 USA HAMER Special.

First off, I have to say that Jay did an awesome job modding this Special! It plays great, it sounds awesome!!!

I'm calling it a Sunburst JR....since Jay added the Sunburst logo on the headstock. The neck is nice and chunky....its chunkier than my 79 Sunburst. I'm very tempted to add a neck pickup.:hide

I'm very impressed with the tone and playability! That Slammer pickup is awesome!!! It looks great too....the binding, the crowns, the vintage Grovers....its the whole package!!!

    I`d put a P90 in the neck.

Personally I would leave it as it is, but that is just me. I love a single pickup, single knob guitar..

Looks and sounds great! I would probably like, but not need a tone knob.

I would not add a tone knob. That guitar is lean and mean and perfect as it is. how about a concentric vol/tone knob instead ?
