Anybody have the main riff down cold?
I've been working on it with a metronome building up speed, but I think I might be playing it wrong. Are you doubling up the bass B and A notes or the octave A?

It's an awesome riff, but the alternate picking going from an upstroke on the bottom string to a good strong downstroke on the 4th is something I struggle with. Same deal playing the Immigrant song - to play that I hybrid pick the 4th string with my middle finger, but Hang 'em High is way too fast to use that trick on it.

Best I could do is in this clip, towards the end.

It's a really hard riff to play.

Great riff. Check out I'm The One, it's a great intro riff. Fast, aggressive picking thing too.

On this riff, the low notes are doubled, ('cept the first one) but the end of phrase the octave is doubled. Good old fashioned alternate picking will get you there, no tricks. Start slow and work it up. Get good at both inside and outside string crossing. That's how you get it.

Thank you. The Bugera 1960 delivers nice tone indeed! :)

This is as fast as I've gotten it so far cleanly. However I think to get it much faster I'm going to have to modify my technique a bit

You've hit your rev limiter playing it that way with all downstrokes. To get the speed up further you're right, you'll need to change your approach - to alternate picking. That does however require a strong clean string transition and skip.

Ed makes it look so damned easy..,
