I hung mine so the body of th etop row sits between the necks of the bottom row. You get more guitars on a wall that way :)

I hang the cases with guitars inside. That way my instrument stays in top condition when I play it every 6-8 months.

I agree, safely hanging on their hooks on the wall.

If you decide to go through with it I hope you can post some pics, especially with the Strat again.

My big hesitation is humidity control. Northern winter and wood heat make it really hard to keep even a room up to a reasonable humidity. For me it would be seasonal to hang on wall, but back to cases from November to April.

Had ours hanging up year round in the Alaskan Interior but definitely worth thinking of that too. You can leave a couple solid bodies out in the winter and then any that you like in the summer. :)

Wall hangers are, in and of themselves, hideous.

A furniture grade board locked to the studs with Swingers on the front. And most important the little securing straps across the front with the rubber washers on there too. Tele necks can wiggle their way loose from these hangers, ask me how I know. I had the straps off in this shot as I was trying to get a good picture of flametops and failing with the lighting!

I rotate my guitars in and out on the "rack" for fun, new look, I get out guitars that I don't normally play if they're in their case, etc. Do they get dusty, yep, so wipe them down. The Callaham has been on the rack for decades, literally and it's perfectly fine...

    Good luck!

Many of us have been hanging our instruments by the neck for years w/o any ill effects!
I'll only buy stands that are neck-hangers.

I read that Hercules changed the formula for the foam & some guys got new hangers or stands due to that:

    http://herculesstands.com/international/faq

"the foam does NOT react with the large majority of popular instrument finishes on the market, including Nitrocellulose"

I used a Hercules with a Rickenbacker (lacquer finish) & it was fine.

Why do so many of you keep referring to aircraft hangars?

Best upgrade to the lowly guitar stand ever.

Great news for all the Hercules fans out there.

Two bits of advice, Hercules and 16" on center...Love having them on the wall. If I had more room, there would be more on the wall!

I keep my guitars in cases, but I have two hangers for temporarily hanging guitars when I'm playing and I will occasionally leave them up for a few days. I used to have stands, but I also have dogs (German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois.) Stands and large dogs don't mix. I think cases are the best protection and while I appreciate the comments from people who have hung guitars for years, I think there must be some stress from hanging guitars by the headstock, that you don't get with cases. I don't know that the stress would amount to much, but I don't want to take the chance. As for the OP, I voted for A for practical reasons, but one of the others might be better for pure aesthetics.

Another vote for top-aligned (though I think our OP has already come to a decision). Didn't know Hercules hangers interacted with nitro, but I like the built-in safety lock of these hangers. I'm also a bit obsessive about dust but they don't seem to gather that much and I use a feather duster on them every few weeks, not to mention every one gets wiped with a cloth before/after playing anyway. Never had any scratchy pot issues.

Regarding your proposed new layout, below: will the radiator pose a threat to the instrument closest to it (the black tele)?
