No offense to anyone who likes that guitar, but that thing looks gross to me. Do a regular acoustic, do a regular Tele, don’t mix them. Someone will love it I’m sure, but I couldn’t.

Seems like a better looking alternative to the Taylor T5z imo. I'd play one...I won't spend $2000 on it, but I certainly don't hate it.

How does Fender putting out a guitar you don't like equate to them losing their way?

Because Fender, Gibson, and Martin users hate change more than the average 80 year old male.

That guitar doesn't do it for me (I like my electrics electric and my acoustics acoustic), but Fender has been killing it the last year or so. Regardless of how the Acoustasonic ends up doing, I think they'll be OK ;-)

It doesn't look the best, but frankly aesthetics are the last thing I take into consideration when I buy a guitar, I'd play it if it sounded good, damn the appearance. You don't hear the guitar with your eyes lol

I'm ok with the way the guitar looks.
But Ive been down this guitar / hybrid journey before, with a Taylor T5 Koa.
I agree with other posts: bring an acoustic for acoustic songs, electric for electric songs. And a spare electric if you break a string.

Have they stopped making the guitars they're known for?

We tried to save it with a passionate write-in campaign, but Fender wouldn't listen: the Telecaster has been canceled for 2020 :(

To me, that "guitar" looks like a wood shop accident...but a humbucker in a Strat is an abomination to me too, so what do I know;)!

^Yes. This is all they make now along with craft beer and beard maintenance products.

I will say I am not a fan. Buy an acoustic for an acoustic and an electric.

For the $2600CDN it is, I would buy something like...

    Martin DR-S2
    and
    Fender American Performer Telecaster

Just as an idea of what you can get for that kind of budget. Sure I have to carry two guitars, but there's always a compromise when you put two things together and I'd rather get a dedicated instrument.

I think they are doing the best in years.

Affordable new guitars and weird other universe models, good value too!
    Fender pedals - well received
New Tele acoustic, well received and selling well.
