Interesting. When did that go down?
Not sure. Someone on another forum noticed it around the time he announced he'd parted ways with Fender.
John Mayer leaves Fender for PRS. Almost unbelievable! PRS makes great stuff but never got the tone from Fender with any PRS.
I don't think that's what's going on.
John has been playing PRS Hollowbody for some songs a couple of years now, i seriously doubt that he'll play any brand exclusively, which probably is one of the reasons he's quit his relationship with Fender.
Some guys have more than one endorsement deal of course, and not all deals are created equal. Mayer has a signature Martin, which he had long before he broke off with Fender. Do we know he didn't have some kind of deal with PRS before the Fender thing happened? (Edit: Just saw Sigmund's post above mine, so maybe this isn't new.) Does he use PRS amps sometimes maybe?
I don't if anyone has a deal that requires them to play Fenders all the time.
I guess he'll give me all of his Fender stuff. Thanks John.
The web archive of that page shows John Mayer as being an endorsing artist since early 2012.
best thing John could have done…Fake fender blows
I could've sworn he was going to go MusicMan. He plays a lot of them and they made him a custom built NOS Axis model a couple of months ago.
He is not a PRS endorser. He simply plays them.
I had no idea he left fender. Have they stopped selling his sigmodel?
He plays anything that's a good guitar. I still think a Strat will be his main axe even if he isn't endorsed by Fender anymore.
I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe reading somewhere that they will be discontinued.
This feels like a comment that this forum will take with zero accountability in terms of original source information and will run with it, so I'm gonna call this out as BS until links are posted.
Mayer himself said they were being discontinued when he announced he was leaving fender. Check his Twitter.
Back in October Mayer tweeted that his relationship with Fender was ending due to the company not being what it once was and anyone who wanted a sig guitar should get one now because they are being discontinued. He quickly deleted the tweet a day later.
Check the google machine. Its your friend.
