Have over 30 pedals... And I keep returning to these 5. How about you?

I have acquired some really great pedals over the last 5 years...

As a beginner and amateur, I use my pedals to record my own songs, mostly rock and heavier genres. I play all guitar parts, and bass, and the drums come from EZDrummer2. Unfortunately, I do not get to play with humans... 9 to 5 job, family... No time.

I have nearly 30 pedals to choose from, yet I keep returning to the following 5 time and time again.
    1. Catalinbread Naga Viper Treble Boost
    2. Jam Pedals Retro Vibe II
    3. Origin Effects REVIVAL Drive
    4. Catalinbread Talisman Plate Reverb
    5. Origin Effects Cali 76 Compressor
What few pedals do you go back to time and time again?

Here they are, used in my latest amateur song... I had D-Day and being a Canadian the Juno Beach landing on my mind when I started this project, so I named it Juno Beach, and gave it a slight soundtrack flavor.

[edit - solos added! I know... a quick wah job!]

    • Naga Viper kicked the tone of my Marshall mini-Jubilee up a nothch or two - I cannot give this pedal enough praise!
    • I have tried a lot of vibe pedals, and the Retro Vibe is really special in my view. It totally rocks on bass guitar - I loved the result in the song.
    • Revival Drive - not much to be said... If you can afford it, go for it. Just top notch! Paired with the Naga Viper, it moves from plexi territory to higher gain tones no problem.
    • The Talisman... What can I say, it is so great, I have two of them, one per each channel in stereo rig - I prefer this to any other 'true' stereo plate reverb out there...
    • AND the Cali 76... So classy, so satisfying. I use the compact bass version on both guitar and bass.
If only I had the talent to really make the best of this gear... I cannot for the life of me shred... No solos here... But I will keep on trying.

Honourable mentions would go to (though not used in this song):
    • Amptweaker Tight Metal Junior (to get to the face-melting zone where my amps cannot go...)
    • and Zvex Fuzzolo silicon fuzz (designed by Joel Korte).

    Cheers!

The Talisman is a fantastic plate reverb! I love it in the loop of my Power Station so it’s after my Superlead.

I could easily get everything I need out of the Talisman, Belle Epoch, and the Naga Viper.

The question is: are you able to downsize if that is the case?

In other words, do you suffer from FOMO like I do? No, it is not a bad word I assure you :):

    FOMO: 'Fear of Missing Out'

The ones I keep coming back to are my Green Rhino mkII and DOD 250. I'll swap out pedals here and there depending on how I'm feeling, but these two either never move or they come back pretty quickly.

    Nice work on the song!

Pedals I come back to are:

    1. Boss MS-3 - I love that it is my multi-fx, switches 3 loops and controls the channel switching on my amp.
    2. Boss DD-500 everything I want in a delay.
    3. Analogman KOT

Lots of others get added in and out but these 3 make of the basis of my pedalboards.

If I don't use it I get rid of it or flip it towards something new.

They pretty much form my base tone. I’ve substituted various other pedals (Lightspeed, BB Preamp, Gain Changer, etc.), and while many can do the job, I keep going back to those three.

I’m at 45, but have a number of them I switch in and out. Sure there are a few I’d be willing to sell if I had to, but as long as I don’t have to, I won’t.

The Origin Effects stuff is on another level, so definitely not ever letting the RevivalDRIVE or the Cali76 Stacked go at all. Plus they are coming out with a Tremolo pedal later this year. I already know I’m getting one without even listening to it first. Why? Because Origin is just that insanely good at what they do. :)

I think(?) I've got 90+ pedals now. The Shin-Ei Big 1 is the only pedal that is always in a setup. Everything else goes in and out based on whim or testing out a new purchase.

Your "Juno Beach" sounds like G harmonic minor for the most part (rooted in the 4th of D). Harmonic minor is easy -- it's the D tri-chord + slide up to the Eb tritone + the C note. The unresolved tonal resolution centered mostly around D to Eb.

I could probably relay on my Analog.Man TI/UK SunFace and a Moog Minifooger Tremolo pedal and be fine. These never got elsewhere since they joined my board. MF Delay and Boost also seem to have found their place, but aren't untouchable. The pedal I switch the most is the OD section. At the moment it is the MI Audio COD, but SviSound OverZoid and DOD Looking Glass are strong contenders, just waiting in my shelf for their chance.

I like my Boss chorus perdal. Does the Boss DD-500 delay pedal record loops? How many presets?

The Revival Drive is probably my favorite dual drive. Some amazing tones for sure.

Use all my pedals regularly except for 3. Bad monkey, boss bf3 and a Skreddy lunar module. Can't seem to bond with them.

I keep coming back to like 5 different types of pedals. I tend to migrate to pedals that sound like (or are clones of something specific):

    Tubescreamer
    Blues Driver
    RAT
    Clean Boost
    Analog Delay
