Thanks to a helping hand from Canada - I ended up with exactly the tone I was looking for....it's lurking in this Hayseed 30

HayseedBlue.jpg

It took some jumping through hoops, but was well worth it. Believe the hype - these things sound insane, and I've only been able to run mine tonite through a Bogner Oversize 2x12 w/ Greenbacks in it.

This apparently is one of Rob's early ones and will be on it's way to his shop for some updates, a checkup and a headshell conversion....

Yeah, I've only had it here for a few hours and the honeymoon thing is happening - but I've owned enough amps to know if I'm going to like something in about ten minutes and this one was instant ear smiles. Can't wait to hear it through some alnicos.

Regarding the headshell conversion - any Hayseed owners out there who may want to convert a head to a combo get in touch, this shell will be for sale and there's always the possible trade for who knows what (headshell, effects, speakers?)

This and the Deliverance are going to be a killer setup :dude

Steve,

You got it - GREAT!!! Man finding a box for that friggin amp took real pain...but I'm glad you're pleased!!

And I guess it was worth it since it looks like it got there unscathed even tough it went clear across to the west coast via UPS no less...

Channel 2 is top boost heaven, ain't it?

Anyhow keep us posted.

Cheers

This is a killer little amp :dude yeah, channel two in the high input is awesome and it loves the Time Machine Boost. Glad you clued me in to the pull pots on the volume. The cleans are what really doit for me with this amp though - just awesome

Thnaks again, and anybody ever thinking about doing a deal with Nigel rest assured the product will be packed bombproof :D

Nice pickup, Steve.

I am going along in your direction as well. 2 single channel heads. The high gain one will definitely be the Avenger and the lower gain one....???? Probably a Black Cat, HC-30 or the like.

Hi,
Thank you for keeping me going ! I just have a different situation that helps keep pricing down. The down side is it takes a little longer than some to get a new amp from me. If you need a new amp today, I am probably not your guy, but if you can wait a little bit, Im pretty sure you will be happy you did.
Thanks again to all who have bought my amps over the years,
Rob

For every buyer, there is a seller....;) in this case Nigel. You've gone through the honeymoon phase and the divorce!:D I'm curious Nigel, what are you now using in place of the 30?

fullerplast,

I thought the Hayseed was brilliant!!! Great sound, but read on and you'll see why it had to travel to Oregon...

Ahh - let's see EL84's - a JMI candy panel VoxAC30, a candy panel tan JMI Vox AC10, a Callaham, a Matchless SC30, a custom leather cab Matchless built by Mark Sampson, a Bad Cat Trem Cat, a couple of plexi Marshall Baby 20's, an Oahu reissue - I've probably forgotten one or 2...

So I have a pretty full EL84 stable:p and a fed up wife:rolleyes:

Understood!:D Your stable does look pretty full and your wife would probably be even harder to ship than the Hayseed...:D

Is your AC30 top boost?

LOL!!!

Nope, it's non top boost. I've had a few top boosts but I feel that the NTB's are more open and "organic". To each his own.

Do yourself a favor and get on the wait list for one of these...you won't be dissapointed.....awesome cleans to mild breakup, but the chime factor is off the scale :dude

That aint my doing, but sounds cool. What were they set up to do?
Rob

Hey Rob !

So I guess I've got a Canuck modded Hayseed ??? :D

The pull pots of the volumes are bright switches - and they sound really good....there's some other things going on to that may or may not be your doing - when you plug into the top left input jack (1) the channels can be blended. So far I like the the upper right input best. Also, there was a master volume added. FWIW - the work done looks pro and I would be hard pressed to see that it wasn't stock. Of course, you'll take one look at it and say "Hmmmmmmmmmm.........."

Fell in love with my stock Fender Strat all over again last night too, what awesome tones through this. Due to weight and potential UPS thrashing issues Nigel worked out a deal with me to send it without a speaker - which is fine because I want you to convert this to a head (don't know if you remeber me calling a few weeks ago..). Right now it's going through the Greenbacks in the Bogner - I can't imagine how good it will sound through an open back cab with alnico's.

This was a really smart move on my part, thanks for building such cool amps.

Based on that Picture , it was the Hayseed that RAFE in New mexico owned before Nigel (I'd hazard a guess) ... I almost bought that last year from him! ERIC

Hey Steve,

I called words and found that the pulls basically convert the channels into each other- I think. Pull the left volume (normal) and it becomes like the right channel (top boost) , pull the right vol (tb) & it reacts like the left (normal) channel - try it & see if it works that way.

Cheers
