Has anyone here compared these side by side? The Hayseed has a few advantages going, but the Vox just sounds so killer, if I switched, I'd hate to lose even .001% of that magical tone.

I think they are both covering the same ground. I don't see what the Hayseed will give you that the AC30 can't. I'm not sure how the output transformer is on the Heritage but my CC and TBX benefited from a MM Woden upgrade.

Master volume, support, handwired in the USA........may not mean a lot until you need help with something. Rob at Valvetech has given me GREAT advice, pointers and information/support even though I didn't buy the amp new.... You can't get that from Vox. As for sound, I can't compare the Hayseed 30 to an AC30, but I had an AC15H1TV that I really liked, but the Hayseed just sounds like a better amp to me. If you didn't already have a Hayseed, then I could see where you'd be having a delema, but If you already have a Hayseed you'd be taking a small step backwards.

That's my $.02 worth.

Hmm I've got a lot of info from the Plexi Palace on modding and tweaking these newer AC30's. I've never had any problems getting what I needed out of them. If I were looking to buy a AC30 I would highly consider a Hayseed 30. Hands down the best AC30 clone I've played was a JMJ 30. I've been playing AC30's for years and that amp is a winner.

Rob at Valvetech is a great dude and makes a nice amplifier. I would choose a Hayseed over a Vox for that flavor of amplifier.

I've not played the Hayseed as they aren't for sale in the UK but I have the Heritage AC30 and it's one of the best SOUNDING amps I've ever come across, much prefer it to my old Matchless and other boutiques I've tried. The first 2 tracks on my Myspace were recorded using it in the 15 watt mode if you fancy a listen.

Yup; love both the custom classic and heritage hand-wired. I'd like to try one of the new JMI models soon; it's on the acquisition list for this year. Definitely the priciest option, but I've heard nothing but good things about what JMI is putting out.

I have a Hayseed 30 and I tried the Vox in GC. I obviously couldn't turn it up in store, but at similar volumes the Hayseed sounds a little richer and more harmonically complex. My HS is a 2x12 combo and I believe the Vox was 1x12. Can't imagine anything sound better than this HS with a pair of Celestion Blues if you're looking for Vox tones.
