X-Mann! Good to see you over hereā€¦ You always posted fun stuff on the "DUC" Eleven Rack forum. IRs are a black hole. It's like getting to buy 5 new cabinets and mics an hour.

I like Black Holes, thus I like IRs. Makes sense :).

Nothing fancy but here is a bit of ambient slide I tracked with the Helix while we were getting the drums down for this song. Haven't started mixing this yet so don't get too critical ;)

Another first take....using both pickups wired out of phase (gives it a really pinched sound). I think its kind of cool, but some of you may not like it. Good example of how pickups translate through the Helix though I think.. I'm going to recut that solo, but since I had the clip I figured I'd share it.

this is my favourite thing you've posted... love to just hear it without bass and drums... maybe some epic reverb :)

Here's a clip that got me in trouble a few months ago... :D

I guess I made this back in May, so it was a pretty early firmware version, so I had no way to keep the preset. Anyway, the playing is kind of all over the place and "pitchy", to put mildly. This is to real fusion what Velveeta is to real cheese...

I was basically noodling to dumb EZ Drummer track I made, so forgive the playing, and forgive the drums. I still like the tone, though. It's a partscaster Tele I have with Lollar Vintage T pickups.

Here is the isolated clip....I think I ran it too hot when I bounced it, I'm hearing some clips (sorry). I'll try and repost tomorrow when I get some more time.

Messing around with the Helix and GB. GB only provided the drum loop.

    EXCELLENT!

I've been dying to hear some more modern, but not metal sounds forever... this little clip has almost made me pull the trigger... much appreciated!

I really enjoyed this clip, tone, song & sound! A+

Can you tell me what IR & amp you used here & maybe even the reverb setting? Just any information about the tone & or the recording process.

I was going to buy the Justin Youk collection & got the UK Marsh one instead.......I'm loving them & now want the York one!

    Peace! X-Mann

    As far as the tone.
AC30 model with an Ownhammer IR from the Justin York Collection I. (JY-VX30-212 R 421G3+121) high cut at 8k, LA Studio comp, and some spring reverb.

    Thanks Strat O Matic!

Can you tell me how you connected your Helix to your PC for recording this & the software/DAW used? How high was the level of your signal on this track too? Was it just peaking into the yellow or green the entire time?

Thanks again & I'm just trying to work some things outon my end. I'm using the SPDIF connections into PT & need to find away to use the USB into maybe something else like Garage Band for quick good clips.

    Just thinking out loud here............

    Peace! X

I just recorded over USB into Ableton. The level was kinda low when I recorded it so I bumped it up quite bit afterwards in Ableton. Probably not the best way to do it....

Has anyone posted any metal tones? Like modern DM/grind kinds of tones.
