OK I'll ask one...can you explain the guitars and guitar tones on Sasia's Tango...nice piece by the way.

Same question for " I'm Ramblin Too"....that's what i always imagined Scofield would sound like if he leaned about ten degrees rockward on the jazz-rock dial.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for the guitar question - I usually get questions about the compositions!

The guitar in both pieces (and though the whole recording) is a Frankstrat. It started life as a MIJ Squire that I bought new in the mid 80's and modified lots of times. For the last 8 years or so it's active EMGs, Wilkerson bridge, and a nice chunky V 50's style Chandler Maple neck.

Here comes controversy - the whole CD was done through a POD 2, with the pedal board (great wah!). I used mostly Fender Models, with an Vintage DOD 250, an old cheapo DOD chorus, and a Vintage Delta Lab Super Timeline Delay. When we mixed, the synth organ and the guitar tracks were run through some super sweet vintage Neve compressors for "grit!"

The basic tracks were recorded live. The guitar solos on I'm Ramblin' Too and Sasja's Tango were straight ahead post session overdubs. On "Sasja's" we added a lot of textural back ground textural tracks - lots of harmonics, and I did a few tracks of e-bow stuff. Apart from the sounds, the notes are coloristic, rather than functional, being chosen based on their dissonant intervalic relationships with notes in the basic harmonic structures (lots of minor seconds.)
