Google has been bringing me through this site for weeks (months? years?) now, and I finally decided to become a member. I have lived in Japan for 10 years, and am never more than 45 minutes away from the legendary Akihabara Electric Town where I can easily get my hands on parts and great kebabs, and all other kinds of weird stuff. Recently I'm trying to restore some junk I came across and helped create, and this forum is proving an invaluable resource to me. My current projects include: 1. Boss Ce-1 - all switches and the depth pot were badly damaged when I got it. I've replaced them, but there are still issues with the pedal not going into bypass mode, and the usual distortion. 2. ELK Big Muff Sustainar - This is a clone I found in the trash. It works, but the tone pot is scratchy and the volume drops dramatically at parts of the rotation. I found at least three cracking ceramic caps inside. 3. Boss PH-1 Phaser- This was in the trash next to the fuzz. It sounded perfect the first time I played it, but I had to go inside and mess with the trimpot. Something has not been quite right ever since... 4. Hughes and Kettner Tubeman (original version) - The greatest guitar preamp ever is currently useless I can't find a suitable replacement for the volume pot, or a good replacement AC adapter. 5. LR BAGGS MIXPRO - Another amazing preamp I ruined by smashing the volume knob. This company is so cool that the sent me a replacement part free, but my soldering skills were up to the challenge. I'm afraid I may have ruined the whole circuit. Anyone taking an interest in these projects, feel free to contact me. However, I will probably make separate posts in the appropriate forums.
