So, I'm going to US (NYC) in July and want to buy a Mesa. Where can I get a better price on it? It seems hard to get something like that on Boogies...

Well, since they are in high demand, there really aren't any "deals" below list. I bought mine last week, and they threw in some accessories, and gave me a good trade in for an old Marshall VS65 amp. So that is how you can get a "deal".

There's one or two listed in the emporium right now.

Mesa sets the price that all authorized dealers must sell their amps for, so you're not going to find any variations in pricing.

Just buy it online if buying new. NYC sales tax is 8.875%. You'll pay more than an extra $100 on tax.

At a very short dealer markup compared to other brands like Fender or Marshall. That "Discounted" big name brand makes the dealer about the same profit margin as a Mesa at the "Pro User Net". It's the "real" or "street" price without the games basically.

For an extra $300 to $500 you can get a used Mark V.

If I buy it online and ship it to NY, will I pay those taxes?

I'm going with the V 25 because of the portability and the cabclone!

This is actually not entirely true. Mesa Boogie has actually been on here stating the reality of this scenario.
The fact of the matter is that the cost to dealers from Mesa is relatively high meaning there's not much profit margin or markup for dealers. But it's not actually a rule from Mesa that dealers can't offer discounts. It's actually something dealers say or use so they don't have to discount and lose profit margin basically.
But you are correct in saying you won't really find a better deal at one dealer or the other.

    This...

I have a friend that worked for a local music, Mesa dealer, store and there was a confusion on pricing with some new people and they marked down their new Mesa amps in a mailer they sent out (wasn't the first time) and they lost their Mesa dealership privileges.

Good thing about this, they can't mark up Mesa amps either.

I've decided if I buy new I'm going to buy online. Free ship and no sales tax. A used Mark 5 for $500 more does have its possibilities though.

I discovered that I can't return to my country with something higher than $500. What a ****** thing...

Why not carry it on the plane and declare the value as $1?
