A friend of a friend of a friend let him borrow this overdrive pedal. No one seems to know who made it or where it came from (it was in a studio with a bunch of other pedals). The only words on it are "KDawg FX" and "The Cap'n" on the top face plate. See attached photo.

While I have no idea when it was made, It appears to be a fairly old unit. I was not able to open it up as the back is covered by velcro (since it's not mine I could not pull it off to inspect further). I've Googled various iterations of Cap'n, KDawg, etc. to no avail. I'm stumped.

It is an awesome sounding pedal. I'd love to get one of my own if I could ever find one! (my friends friends, friend is not parting with it unfortunately).

Anyone have any info on this pedal?

(I'm thinking somebody found this as a special prize inside a Captain Crunch cereal box! :D)

Rad! Now I need an entire breakfast pedalboard. I wonder if there is hash browns and toast pedals?

Pretty funny replies so far! But I’m really hopeful someone will be able to shed some light on this mystery pedal!

It's probably just a home made thing that a guy had fun doing for a couple months and stopped. Just ask if you can remove the velcro to take the back off and see if anyone signed it or if they used a kit board or something.

Yeah, I’m kinda thinking along the same lines. I’m going to see if I can borrow it again and get permission to crack it open.

It happens a lot. Or, as someone else stated, they could have just gotten in trouble with General Mills and shut down. There was a "satellite effects company" that Satellite Amps kind of smacked (if I'm remembering correctly) and they became some other company/just shut down because of it.

So, finally got the scoop on this pedal from "the friend of a friend of a friend". Calfzilla was right - Turns out the keyboard player in his former band "invented" this pedal and made a handful of them years back. He said he will make a a couple new ones for my friend and me. I'm waiting to see what it will cost before saying yes... but it will have to be outrageously expensive for me to say no!! Oh man... I promised myself I would not go down the "Pedal GAS (PAS??)" road!! LoL!!

I’ve always wondered what caused Cap’n Crunch’s eyebrows to grow through his hat.

My best theory is that his ship got too close to some of the South Pacific nuclear tests back in the 1950s. Or that high doses of his cereal cause mutations.

P.S. The peanut butter flavor kicks ass!!!

Does the pedal cut the roof of your mouth?

Any word what it is? It reminds me of a lot of the BYOC DIY pedals from about a decade ago that a lot of people were making.

The Capn Crunch is a pcb that is made by GuitarPCB.com. I built one and have it on my board. One of the switches is for the diodes. Mine has silicon on one side and red leds on the other. It's an MI audio clone.

I don't know if "kind of smacked" is the correct term. "Politely asked to stop using our Federal trademark" is probably a better way to put it. Lawyers were not involved. There was no smacking to speak of.

I didn’t mean it negatively! Sorry if it came across that way.

    See my post #8.
I’m still waiting to see if this guy will build a few again. Hope to get more answers in the next week or two.
