Highway 1 SSS with TONERIDER Pure Vintage pickups installed, or a Classic Player's 60's??

Basically the same price, and either would get a professional setup from the best tech in my city.

Classic Player '60s....just cause. They'd be very similar guitars though.

Pickups aside, surely the hardware is fairly similar (except the CP60s has the 2 pivet bridge)? Isn't the simple answer "play em both and buy you one your prefer"? I have a CP60s - nice guitar, rather glossy neck finish, but lovely tone (very glassy without being thin). I also have a Hy1 SSS, but it has the stock pickups (rather good in a 'beefed up' sort of way, so I can't comment on the Toneriders and what difference they'll make. On build quality, the CP60s just edges it.

I've been more of a humbucker fan, but do like the sound of singles, just don't have a lot of experience with them.. Is the hum on the Custom shop 69's really bad??

To answer the question, no the hum on the CP60s isn't bad at all - not better or worse than any Strat. The crunch for me would be a) the neck finish (very different on these two), b) which makes you feel happiest.

Heck, it's a Strat - you can update/change/modify every last bit of it when you get bored or tired or rich :)

tough call, I would lean toward the Highway 1 becuase I love the thin satin finish on those.

If its a 2006 or later, the HWY-1 has a nitro finish. It will also have bigger frets, which are great for bending.
