I am faced with deciding between what is most practical and what is more beneficial tone wise, but possibly extraneous.

I can only afford one at the moment

I would like to have a portable backuprig that goes direct and have decided that the HK tubeman is best for going into the mixer in the event my amp dies

    OR

Getting a brand new BK Butler Tubedriver because I freakin' love 'em !

do you plan on having your amp breaking down? What amp do you have?

Id go with the tube driver.

yeah, after mulling it over, I am leaning towards the gassy

    Here's why:

Sooner or later ole BK is gonna quit makin' them unless his son takes over, which really is not known if he would or not, so I figure i may as well get a brand new one w/the bias knob for 375 from his ebay store.

If these go out of production again, there is no telling how much they will be on the pre-owned market.

The H&K tubeman will always be easy to get

    So I voted "gassy"

    Thanks to all

Besides that, i have a DG Stomp for a direct rig in the event the amp dies on a gig, and i can juice that puppy up w/my EP-PRe
