Help me fill out 2 slots on my pedal board (Dirt + delay)

Hi guys

My board has been through a complete make over the last couple of weeks and I have downsized considerably.
I'm very happy so far but I still need a tap tempo delay with modulation, which can also self oscillate. This is the most essential part of my rig but I'm not sure what to choose. I'm thinking Memory Lane Jr. v2 or Empress Tape delay but would be very happy to hear other suggestions. I used to have the regular Memory Lane but really disliked the oscillation and the high pitch click noise with the EQ above 10 o'clock.

I also need some kind of drive to go with my OCD to go from crunch to lead (I'm not sure about the order either as I would like an increase in both drive and volume). I've tried the Soul Food and the TC Spark Boos but didn't really like either of them with the OCD. What would you suggest?

Thanks a lot. :)

Guitar --> Empress buffer (--> PolyTune mini i tuner out) --> Whammy 5 --> TransMORGrifier --> Fire Red Fuzz --> OCD --> Mission VM-PRO --> PH-1r --> DM-2 --> DL4 --> blueSky --> Ditto looper --> Empress buffer --> amp

A Mem Lane Jnr would fit nicely there I think.

Sorry 'Off Topic' but how do you find the VM-Pro for volume swells?

When the background is dead silent the volume seems to turn on a little abruptly but as soon as there is anything going on in the background it is very nice.

I actually just sold the Boss GE-7 with ToneGecko's sniper mod, so I don't think that's the way to go for me. I think I'm looking for some TS type drive but I'm not sure what works well with the OCD.

why do you need a tap tempo delay with modulation when you've already got one? (DL4)

as for dirt - every board needs a RAT

Have you tried the Fulltone Fatboost? I would recommend running it after the OCD for a lead boost, version 3 has a gain knob on it. I still love my version 1 after all these years. Sounds great after my OCD.

@Coldacre
I like to have a nice and thick sounding modulated delay, which always has the tap delay time. The delay time is set by the preset on the DL4.
Sometimes I use the DL-4 for reverse loops which is one more reason for an independent delay.
I had rats before. They just sound thin to me. It was ages ago though, so I've never tried one with the OCD. I'll check it out. :)

@tabb74
No I haven't tried that one. Will try that when possible. :)

I have a Hiwatt Custom 100 and a Matchless HC-30 clone. At home I'm playing through a small Bugera V5.

For Delay, the MLjr would be good, it doesn't self oscillate unless your are on mode 4 (red+green lights) but that is a beautiful setting anyway no problem.

For Overdrive Try looking into the Fulltone RTO to pair with your OCD, the thing is thick and cuts for leads, right amount of mids and a slight cocked wah feel to it.. and would also be a nice change to the OCD for the odd song for something the same but different.

Memory Lane Jr is a killer choice for that rig.

If I had to pick an overdrive to use with the OCD I would probably use a Bearfoot Sparkling Yellow. Makes an excellent booster and gainy pedal. Exceptional stacker. What amp? I prefer the v1 SYOD but it can be too much with very bright rigs.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I'll see if I can check out the BD-2, RTO, treble booster and Plimsoul.

Is there a Mad Professor version of the Bearfoot Sparkling Yellow? I'm in Denmark, so it would quite difficult to try out the Bearfoot FX.

I never heard of the BAT Black Forest but I'll see if I come across one sometime.

I don't really get the DD-3 suggestions. It has neither modulation or tap tempo. What am I missing here?
