    hey all!

Does anyone have suggestions for a p90 guitar that’s in the same ballpark as a les Paul jr for around 600$ used?

Also I have zero experience with p90 guitars but I feel like I would like them as I’m more of a single coil guy.

I’d use it for rock with fender and Marshall amps

Les Paul fifties tribute. I had one, sounded great, not the best guitar Gibson made, but man, sounded great! I ended up with a McCarty with old Gibson p90's. Best of both worlds. Stick with Gibson p90's in whatever guitar you get, they make them right.....

Reverend. I believe all of their models have P90's as an option, either a 290 or 390 designation with the model name indicating the number of pickups. Great sounding pickups and nice playing guitars for the price range you're looking for.

Reverend. They have quite a few P90 guitars, both 24.75 and 25.5" scale.

SG Classic. It might be more like $700-$800, but they rock.

AXL USA Bulldog. Had my eye on a used one for $400 in the recent past at a local store. Original pickup replaced with a Fralin p90. Played/sounded as good as any quality p90/Jr style guitar I ever played. Wasn't really in the market for another guitar so I passed on it figuring I might pick it up down the road if it was still there. Nope - checked back a month or two later and it was gone. Have seen used listings online low as $275.

Why not a Les Paul Junior? I just picked up a 2015 LP Special Double Cut (with P-90S pickups, slightly different, but great sounding) for 550 shipped from Sam Ash (in the big clearance sale). I thought they had some single cut Juniors... Might still have them?

Or maybe a PRS? https://www.ebay.com/itm/PRS-SE-Soa...986765?hash=item1ed398360d:g:w00AAOSwm9tZ3Urx Every SE I've tried has been a pretty good guitar.

'90s LP Special, or an early 2000s LP Jr.

I had a nice Jr. that I paid $400 for, w/a HSC. Basic setup and it played and sounded great.

    Came here to post this
Why settle for used when you could have brand new for the same money?
The case itself is worth half of the nut too.

EDIT: I just saw that this link is for an open box. While it is probably returned from someone not knowing how to adjust the nut / bridge, it is not brand new. Still a crazy value though.

Funny, I love my P-90 and P-90S guitars. My DC Special has been an awesome inclusion in to the pack! The neck pickup was actually a really wonderful surprise for me! Everything from Jazz to the heavier side of Blues. Nice and smooth and warm, to creamy overdriven leads.

    But, to each his own.

The G-Froce still makes me nervous, although it has performed flawlessly for me so far (knock on wood).

It's semi-hollow, but a smallish body - but I love my Epi 339 Pro with P90's. I got it new for less than $400 in Pelham blue.

You should be able to find a MIJ Ampeg AMG-1 for $400. It is the equal of juniors from Gibson. For a little more money you can find a made in US Hamer Special.

    Here are examples (unaffiliated):
