Help me find the perfect super - telecaster

I'm looking for a special Tele: at least 9.5" radius, preferably compounded flatter higher up, compensated 2 strings per saddles, light as a feather. Fender, Nash, Suhr, Danocaster - I'm not sure, but keeping it under $2k should narrow that down a bit.

I like maple boards, fat necks and the taste of butterscotch :)

Any suggestions out there in the Gear Page Geekdom?

Read Madrone's post. Baja looks nice but poly finish? Bleh.

Never heard of MJT. Checked out the site. Wow! That's really cool stuff, great concept. Any owners/builders out there that can vouch for quality? Thx!

Had a friend who had a tele built by them, great great quality. Fiesta red relic'd lightly.

I've done 3 Tele's that either used some or all components from MJT. Their stuff is excellent, and Matt and Mark are wonderful to deal with. Just make sure that you discuss every piece of hardware if you are doing anything unusual. A friend did a hardtail Strat, and I did a Cabronita, and MJT supplied bridges that were not to our liking. However on my Esquire and my Tele Custom, they supplied all of the correct stuff, and great quality. So make sure you know what you are getting, and you will love MJT.

Well...the Bakersfield now lives with me. I'm really impressed, this guitar is amazing. Not entirely "traditional" but plays and sounds beyond good.

Thanks to Charles at Electric Mojo in Montreal for hooking me up. Highly recommended!

Thanks to SouthpawGuy for the suggestion.

Crikey ... nice looking guitars!

The specs look very appealing ... would love to try one ... alas, being in Sydney, I doubt shops would have one in stock.

Congratulations!

[I just realized my post was too late for the OP but am leaving it up for others doing research.]

Ron Kirn makes custom teles as well as anyone and better than most. I owned one that was made of Paulownia wood. Great sounding, under 6 lbs, super looker, and Ron's a great guy. Never should have sold it.
