Ok I am on a tone hunt for getting that tone(pedal wise) on that wonderful album. Here is what I have narrowed my search down to.....

Fulltone Octafuzz
Chicago Iron Octavian
Retroman Wolf Tone
Fuzzy Gypsy
KR Doubler

Any input to any of these pedals would be great! And as always if anyone is getting rid of any one of these PLEASE let me know! Thanks in advance for any help given! Ryan

Which tone from that album? The octave fuzz or the fuzz face sound? Really you need a wah, fuzz face, vibe and octavia to get the whole package. Or the Digitech pedal, as used by Jimi. ;)

Hey fellow Wisconian! The sounds like a nice set up but some bucks! This is what I have(or will have) thus far....Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, Fulltone Ultimate Octave, Fulltone Soulbender and on the search for either a Mojo Vibe or Rx Vibe Unit..

:FMI have the Digitech Jimi pedal and its not THAT bad.... I only paid $50.00 for it though, I'd be pissed if I paid $200.00 :D

Good Wah
Mojo Vibe
Octavia
Cranked 100 watt Marshall
Flipped over Strat

I believe the flipped over strat is a must! No offense on the Digitech:BEER I'm guilty of some Jimi marketing items. Today I put some of those Dean Markley "Jimi" strings on the strat. I had to get them and just see what was going on. They were cheap as well. So far not so bad.:worried

Univibe clone, Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe or the new FoxRox...silicon fuzz, Analogman BC 108 or the new Hendrix Fuzz Face, Octavia go for the CI Octavia or the Dunlop Octavio and a wah, Teese Picture is the ticket...

EDIT: Since making this post I have changed my mind about what the best wah for me and I no longer use RMC wahs.

Ive owned two. They are fantastic, the chorus mode is amazing. You have to use the PE power supply with it, if I remember correctly it runs on 12v AC.

However, IMHO the pro vibe in the CC2 is better.

Cool. I've been looking hard at the Prescription and the Mojo Vibe. What's the CC2????

Here's an old clip I did of the Ultra Vibe and a PE Yardbox.
Bad notes and tuning and all :)

Machine Gun

You need a good high gain fuzz with a minimum of fizz, oh and LOTS of VOLUME :)

Now thats the way it's supposed to sound! That sustained note is the one and you are absolutely right that it only can sound really right when that Marshall stack is pegged and feeding it all back at ya! These bedroom clips that have been making the rounds lately don't impress me much because they totally miss the point about Hendrix and how he used volume to get his thing on.

I'm really impressed with Dave Fox's Aquavibe clip and the Chicago Iron octavia is the fattest, vintage BOG sounding box I've heard yet and allows you to play full chords unlike the original versions. Wahs and fuzz are just personal taste because there are so many great ones now it just boils down to trying them out to see what works for your rig.
