I want that slight delay, not crisp, that sits behind the notes. Maybe just one repeat. I had a OCD but it was too bright and crisp. I set all the knobs low, but... I like the old style delay, maybe like the guitar gods from the 70's. I don't need all the options to sound like U2....

Thanks guys.

If Carbon Copy sound bright and crisp for you(I think Carbon Copy sound quite dark)

I think you have no choice but DMM.
Or perhaps Echorec.

In front or in a loop?
Since you mention 70's players, you would more likely prefer an analog unit. BTW, all 70's player had their delay pedals in front. There were no loops yet then.

I do a "slight delay" thing with my delay, and transitioned from an old memory man to the new analog man delay. I'd be surprised if this delay isn't on my board for a long, long time... I rarely use more than 3-4 repeats but the thing is so warm it just always sits perfectly and subtly in the background. That being said, it's 'too subtle' for some people I think.. but seriously, I couldn't be happier with it.

I've got 2 AD-9's, one from the 80's and a Keeley modded reissue. The old one is really dark and rich sounding. The newer one is very close; in a band setting I can't tell the difference.

Carbon Copy too bright and crisp? I bought one specifically to sit behind the notes and be not too noticable and it works great for that. It's a pretty dark analog delay.

I thought the Ad999 was too distorted sounding, the delays weren't clean at all, but it was a used one I tried-not sure if that's normal.

The Belle Epoch does sound good in demos-similar to the Skreddy that I have-both are more tape like, which I like. I don't know if I'd call the Skreddy dark though.
