1. The Gear Page is run by musicians for musicians. We listen, we learn and if we misstep we are not afraid to do the right thing. We proposed some changes to the Emporiums. Based on feedback from members, we have decided to not go ahead with those changes. However, it has also highlighted that we need some community input into what is working and what is not working for members here. Primarily focused on the Emporiums, we'd like input on your thoughts about TGP and how things work in the Emporiums for you and how you'd improve them. The discussion thread on the is here!

    Hey All,

I just put a Mean90 in the neck position of my SG and, a week later the tone knob isn't working. It sounds like the tone is at 0, no matter where the knob is.

Is it just odd timing that the pot went out? It's a 2009 model, so not old at all.

You may have a bad solder joint or perhaps a single strand of wire that is shorting out the tone control.

    Hey Structo,

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll check into it.

Another thing is that I didn't actually resolder the pots - I actually cut the wire from the old pickup and spliced the wires mid-lead - perhaps a bad idea.

Better to re-solder the pots. I've only done the splice thing once and it was on a hollowbody with no access other than through the f-holes. I didn't want to go through the trouble of removing the pots and trying to put them back.
