I recently got a used Rivera Chubster and I really like the amp. However, there is a lot of hiss the amp makes when I'm not playing, guitar volume turned down, etc. I've read since it is a higher gain amp, they can be noisy. I've also read somewhere that using a 5751 tube might lessen the hiss. So my questions is, if I get a 5751 tube where do I put it? V1, V2 or get one for both? Thanks for any help.

I had a Mullard CV4024 tube and Sylvania 12AT7 in a DRRI that were in the PI position and Reverb driver. I tried them in these position with the Chubster and it did really quiet the amp. Of course, I now have to turn the amp up to get the same levels I was getting with the 12AX7 tubes.

12AT7/4024 in the last preamp spot before the power tubes and then see what you think. Made a huge difference in my Rivera
