That Jimi version could be my all time favorite single song -interseting to read about how much work he did to achieve it.

    Thanks,
can't believe how much time/ energy expended on recording 'Watchtower' but obviously it was worth it...nice to hear all the different formulations and stages...
    Even dear Brian's besotted contribution.

    Great read and listen.

Thanks indeed - great little read, and I loved hearing all the air in his comping on the solo'd track....great window into the soul of such a powerful artist.

...also feel a little better about how long our project's been taking....

"... I can do it better!!"

    ...yikes.:aok

Yep! You don't get that good by being a slouch! Great work ethic.
Most of the greats were really hard workers.

In Keefs book, he said they would get mad at each other if one of them had a date, or was spending time with a girlfriend, instead of working on the band.

I honestly don't think that most people remember or aren't old enough to know that Dylan was the voice of his generation, and how huge he was.
Jimi obviously had a great admiration for him.

My favorite Dylan moment is when He is playing at the Royal Albert Hall, after just recently going electric.
The Kids are all screaming at Him, as so many of his fans were just furious when he went electric, there cursing him out, and calling him Judas, as they've all been betrayed.

He Turns to Robbie (Gtr player) and yells at him, play F**k**g Loud!

Who's the voice of a generation now?

Hendrix sings, "Outside in the COLD distance."

    Dylan didn't sing that.

That 'cold' adds to the song's foreboding feel!

    Interesting.

I've been a Hendrix fanatic for 25 years, but I've actually never heard Dylan's version. I should get on that...

You're right...never picked up on that...I love both versions of Watchtower and Like a Rolling Stone...

Now, about your sig, shouldn't it read 'amidst friendly fire?'
