I posted this over at HC and thought somebody might want to hear these...

I was goofing around last nite checking out the amp, so I threw a mic in front of my cab ( 57 off axis about an inch or so away on an old GB) and hit record. My software was acting up some so there is a pop here and there, oh well....

Its on the gain channel and I'm switching the amp's boost on and off in different spots. About halfway through the 1st clip I turned down the bright knob to about a third of the way up , I liked it better with it higher.

The 2nd clip is the same except for the gain up to 3:00 (from noon in the first one) and the bright knob still down.

Sorry for all the A5's etc, just some wanking to check out the tone....

That sounds great! What is the tube configuration in that amp and how loud were those clips recorded?

Thanks GG! The 2nd clip sounded EXACTLY to the T the tone that I would get playing thru the VHT Gp3 preamp I had so was wondering.. I liked the first one more but all was very good.. I'm sure that sucker is a killer amp. Thanks again for posting them

Yep...that's a Wizard :). My Modern with the switchable gain boost can get that tone on the lead channel. Sweet clips!

Wow... quite a bit of gain when you pull that!
Real nice clips, the first one is a little louder... or more presence to it?
    Thanx, Bro!!

Thanks Eric. The GP3 is cool for sure.

The Wizard is just so big sounding and is really easy to dial in a tone. Pretty much where ever the knobs are is a good sound....

That amp sounds killer! I especially like the tone before you step on the boost, like a good Marshall, but the boost is great for leads, I would love to have one of those Wizzards.:p

    Great amps!
I just love the way they feel. They are so tight and ballsy!
I have a Metal 100 watter too and the thing just smokes!

Just spent the morning playing my Modern through a Wizard 4x12. Getting used to the greenbacks, but after playing through a Harry Joyce cab, Orange cab, and now a Wizard cab, I have to say that the Wizard sounds the biggest through the Wizard cab...and that's pretty damned scarry because it was HUGE through the HJ and the Orange.

I'll have to experiment with seakers. The Greenbacks do some weird things that I'm not used to hearing when I play a Wizard. Some note separation is lost, and/or notes disappear into a big wall of sound. Very cool trick, but not my cuppa for my palying. I'd let 'em slide if it was something I would consider for rhythm overdubs, but this amp and cab are so big and thick, that I couldn't see anything more than 2 rhythm guitar (L-R) tracks ever being needed for any song.

Keith, the gain boost does add quite a bit of gain. With it engaged you'll only need the gain about noon. you will love it! (insert subliminal message "Make the trip, make the trip!") LOL.....

Both those clips are actually the same track, I had to split in in two cause my server will only let me upload 5 mg's at a time...I had a break in the track where I raised the gain to where you wanted and ran the bright down about where you run yours....the first clip is wqith the bright knob all the way up.
