My go to setup is usually and Ian Anderson Deluxe Goldtop into a Kingsley Deluxe 32, but I'm pretty much just as content playing my Tele Partscaster into a HR Deville. How low can you go?

Some days I wonder why I didn't just get a Road Worn 50s Tele, a couple basic pedals, and a Pro Jr.

Early 90's Les Paul Studio into a Marshall DSL50 (older one with Drake Transformers) - Green Channel cranked to 9 - 10 - hit with a boost for solos.

Certainly not a contest, but my $7200 setup competes with my $800 setup; a factor of 9x

Bandmaster Reverb head into any 2x12 cab with a Tubescreamer or similar derivative in front.

My Ibanez AR 100 into my two channel 10W Brunetti Metropolitan sounds very nice.

But I won't pretend it sounds or feels as good as my Artinger plugged into my Brunetti Singleman 16. :)

    $200 Parts Esquire > Rat > $250 Marshal 4010, or $275 SFPR

I recently got a Mesa 50 caliber plus that I'm using for travel/larger gigs. Beautiful blackface tones, loud, and even good overdrive.

I still love my goto Swart AST, but for a $300-$500 easily replaceable amp with good tone that can get crazy loud if need be - man, I love that Boogie.

The cab sounds lame compared to most anything else? I have one and it sounds great attached to a 4x10 cab, but not so satisfying by itself.

Low end of the scale that still works wonders

Squier Protone Strat w/SDs APII and Dimarzio TZ S (total investment $280 on the used market) straight into a Traynor YCV20 combo (picked up for $275 used).

Nope, just always make sure to have a pocket full of cash when opportunities arise.

    Did I mention the 1982 TS-9 I got last summer for $15? <g>

Squire classic vibe strat or tele -> Peavey Classic 30.

I'd still rather play my boutique stuff, but I've enjoyed the CV guitars i've played at shops. For the money they seem really good.

I'm quite happy with an Ash Standard Tele (with Dimarzio Twang Kings) and my early Blues Jr.

Epiphone LP Special straight into an Ampeg Jet. Was one of my fave rigs. IIRC it cost me less than 350 all told.

Otherwise, any decent two-hb guitar or tele-style into an Ibanez Toneblaster 25R or 50R. Hands down the best solid-state amp I've ever played.

Ibanez PF200 (250 used) > RAT (traded an extension cord for it) > Peavey Classic 30 (150 used). I'd gig with this set-up.

$300 Chinese Gibson or Epi Les Paul into a Fender EXcelsior or a Traynor GuitarMate, add in a Tube Screamer and an EQ pedal for lead boost.

I have a parts-tele and a very beat up silver face bandmaster that sounds as good as any of my boutique or higher end gear. (which I've since sold off most of!)

    What do you consider "boutique-but-cheap?"

Assuming no Chinese stuff, how about a used Hamer USA into a used Rivera R55-112.

I shouldn't have sold my Peavey Classic 50 head. A Strat/Tele through that amp with a decent cabinet and a few basic pedals is a damn solid setup.
