Anyone else think the HFS is a bit too hot for mid gain stuff? I think it's outstanding for the heavier side of things, but I'd like my Custom 24 to be able to cooperate with all types of gain levels.

If you replaced your HFS bridge pickup, what did you go with?

I have PRS Santana's in my custom 24, and like them a lot. They're more of a vintage pickup, I also like the PRS Artist pickups as well.

I replaced my Vintage Bass and HFS with a set of Dimarzio Virtual PAF's. those pickups have been discontinued by Dimarzio in favor of the 36th Anniversary PAF, which is pretty much a Virtual PAF neck pup and a Virtual PAF Hot bridge pup.

i've been very pleased with the VPAF and would try the Anniversary if they stopped working.
