Hi could someone please help me with a fuzzface build?

Hi,
First i'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place let me know if i did :'( sorry. I am fairly new to electronics but i just wanted some clarification on this build. I found this Fuzz face layout at Fuzz Central( http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/fuzzface.php ) i'm not sure if they would want me to post it but it is at the bottom of the page. Now I'm using 2 NPN OC140's in this but the layout is for PNP. So i would assume I'd have to switch the negative from the power with the positive, now i know i have to flip the electrolytic caps too. So my question pertains to the added power filter cap and accidental reverse polarity power diode. Should I reverse them also, I think i should but i just want to be safe. So on the Fuzz Central page it says "This PCB and Layout can be used to build PNP or NPN transistor versions. Just remember that if you're building NPN Silicon the 470-ohm resistor should be replaced with a 330-ohm resistor, and you'll have to reverse the polarity of the two eletrolytic capacitors and it will need to be fed +9VDC instead of -9VDC." without any mention of the diode or 100uf cap.

Thanks,
-Z

Yes, you'll need to reverse the all polarised components including the polarity protection diode and cap.
There are plenty of layouts for NPN Fuzzfaces, I would just go with one of those.

I find GGG's fuzz face page to be extremely helpful with both schematics and wiring diagrams of many classic and hot rodded fuzz face circuits:

GGG Website

I've used both 330/470 ohm resistor in R4 with success, but I always use a pot or trimpot to set the voltage going to Q2 (in place of the 8.2k resistor at R5). Not only can you really dial in the voltage but it is useful for both silicon and germanium transistors and you can get some cool trumpety gated sounds at extremely low settings.

To explicitly answer this - Yes you do need to reverse them.

How on Earth did you go to bed before trying it out??? Even if it's 3am and volume is whisper quiet I still gotta hear the damn thing before I crash out. Just so's I know it works and all!

Haha, I completely understand this sentiment!
