If you want it in your face, get Eminence Wizards. Very little compression, very present highs and lows.

If you want it less in your face, with some compression, try the Eminenc Governors.

Or do like I've done, and put one of each in a 2x12. It
is a -great- combination.

As far as speaker cabs, the Trutone cabs are a bargain and you can get them in so many color combinations. Made of pine, great quality.

Hey Mark!
When you come over to hear the Cameron's, you can try out both Z-Best 2x12's I have along with a Mojotone '68 Marshall replica 4X12.
I'm not using both Z-Best cabinets, so your welcome to purchase one if you like what you hear.
They are thus far the best 2X12's I have played through.

I have CL80s in a ported 2x12 and the tone is exquisite for clean, crunch, and high gain tones. My next cab will probably be an EarCandy Buzzbomb

The Mesa Recto cabs are also great for high gain.

The big Bogner 2X12 is really great... mine has the V30s. I may try one V30 and one 12/75 this weekend and see how I like it. I like the Bogner better than the 2X12 Mesa Recto cab.

Sounds great with both of these high-gain heads....

VHT Fatbottom 2x12 w/ P50E speakers...
Alot tighter than the Bogner OS cab. But I think it has to do with the fact that I hate V30's with a passion. I hate speakers that break up, and have no bottom end.

right now i'm running my mesa rectoverb into an avatar cab that i got off of ebay and loaded up with eminence wizards. love the sound. would like to change it to closed back just to see if i can hear a difference, but i still need to drill holes in the closed back that also came with it.

what was this wolftone stuff that i ran across a while back on here?

+1 for the EarCandy buzzbomb. bigger sound that many 4x12's I've heard. I don't play with high gain, but many of Tim's customers do just that. Even though I don't play high gain, I wanted a sound from a 2x12 that was as big as a 4x12, and the Buzzbomb is EXACTLY that! He can make some great recommendations on speakers for you as well. Highly recommended.

+1 on the Buzzbomb...
My friend Ralph(Gainfreak) has 2 of them loaded with Mesa MC90's and they literally sound like a 4x12...

you'ze guyz keep missin' the boat on this one:

Slant-2_3rds-front.jpg

the imaging, for one, on these little reinhardt 2X12 mini-slants is W I D E ! ! the bottom end is big and tight, the mids & top end can be either creamy or jangly, depending on your amp's settings, and with a clean sound on the neck pup, it NAILS jimi! let me put it this way; if you like what a 4X12 cab sounds like, you will LOVE these babies! i actually picked this OVER the buzzbomb! and i am SO glad i did! bob & sue have done an incredible job building & voicing these cabs. and your back will thank you, believe me!

I'd audition a Rivera K212. Angled baffle for projection, and reasonably priced used.
