High gain Marshall sounding pedals?

I'm looking for something that can do an over the top, high gain Marshall crunch ala Jonny Greenwood and his Shredmaster. I'm considering the Suhr Riot, Emma Reezafratzitz, Crunch Box, and Box of Metal as now. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are literally hundreds of threads already about high gain Marshall in a box pedals. You should do a search (top of your screen) to find out all the info.

It also really depends on your amp. Do you have a mid scooped amp, and so need something with some mid range in it? etc...

For my Marshall Plexi, I have tried a hell of a lot. My favourites are the Fulltone OCD, the ProCo Whiteface Rat reissue, the Marshall Shredmaster and Guv'nor and the cream of the crop is the Kingsley Minstrel.

Wampler, Weehbo and a tonne of others also do great MIAB pedals.

I've owned so many, and some really awesome ones too! I finally stopped searching when I found the XTS Atomic. That works for me, everything I ever wanted to hear with a powerful EQ and very flexible midrange-range...if that makes sense. I always want total control of my mids, and this nails it!

I love the Shredmaster. If that's the sound you want, get one of those.
If you can't find one, BYOC makes a great clone called the Shredder.

You can buy them as a kit or prebuilt.

I hit my Shredmaster with a Blues Pro & that combo with my Les Paul into a clean Fender just kills.

BYOC Shredder with the 'more highs' mod is one of my favs. I have two of them. Need crazy gain? Hit it with a Timmy.

Marshall Jackhammer does a good take on the high gain Marshall sound. And it's dirt cheap too.

If you have an amp with strong mids look no further than the Carl Martin Plexitone. It´s the reigning champ of hot-rodded Marshall tones in a box.

Distortion is like barbeque sauce. They are almost all good, but you have gotta actually try them yourself to see which one you prefer.

Impossible to access the one you fancy? YouTube and forum opinions are probably as good as it gets.

Threads like this are always fun. BTW, I tried the Pinnacle and loved it except that it was just a bit too much gain for me. It was a very fine pedal, however.

I really like my Plexitone, but I don't know I'd call it a Marshall in a box:huh
It's a great distortion pedal that turns every amp into a three channel high gain beast but it lacks the crunch factor I associate with a Marshall.
Definitely one to check out though, yeah.

+1 for the Jackhammer. It is more or less the spiritual successor to the Shredmaster. Guitartoneoverload.com did a comparison video you can check out. The pedal is very bass-heavy but can be adjusted. The overdrive setting is very useful and has hi-gain - the distortion setting is a little muddy and hard to use.

other than the bad monkey, boss ds-1, and most other digitech, ALL the dirt pedals Ive bought are great pedals...some I prefer over others

marshall jackhammer, wampler plexistortion, barber direct drive, crunch box ALL do great marshall high gain

Another Marshall Jackhammer vote here. If you can't find one, go for an older Rat with the LM308. Those two are my only high gain pedals!

I haven't heard the Jackhammer, but what you described above made me sell the Shredmaster.

2 cheaper alternatives that can do that gritty crunch, are the Zoom HL-01 Hyper Lead and the Marshall Drivemaster. Both not made anymore.
I preferred the Ibanez SM-9 Super Metal and the Marshall The Guv'nor (MK I, made in UK), as they had a much better midrange than the Drivemaster and Shredmaster. The Hyper Lead is very versatile though.

Another to consider (goes from Michael Schenker (70's hard rock) to brutal deathmetal, with a treble boost on top) is the EHX Metal Muff. Very useable gain-range and very 'active' EQ knobs.

I never thought of the Riot as an amp-like pedal. High gain distortion for an already fine tube amp, but the pedal itself didn't make me think Marshall. The Reeza is wonderful, but I've only tried the old one. The original Guv'nor is my favorite, but might not be enough gain for you by itself so I submit the Hermida Tiki Drive as my favorite high gain Marshall-esque box.

I'm surprized no mention of the Diamond CORNERSTONE. You guys have got to try it. Amazing "Marshall-Type" pedal. The feel, sound and dynamics are awesome!

+1 on the Crunch Box, XTS & Plexi-Tone

I have several gain pedals a few of which are high gain but I also have a couple of amps. They will and do sound different. Case in point, my Box of Metal and JHS modded Boss Metal Zone sound like heavy distortion as in old Black Sabbath through a THD Bivalve30 but sounds like modern Metal as in Pantera/Megadeath through a 67 Black Face Super Reverb. What amp are you using?
