I am looking for a higher gain distortion/overdrive for my rig. Something that sonically sits in between my Analogman KOT and all my Fuzz Pedals in terms of gain. I do not want something as crazy as a fuzz, but it needs more balls than the KOT.

Stylistically, i play experimental rock music ala Radiohead, however with a strong root in early 90's grunge, i.e. Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana. I need something that can give me more of that 90's grunge distortion, but that is very clear and articulate.

i will be going to 30th St guitars and Ludlow Guitars to try out pedals but want to go in expecting to try out 5-7 different pedals. What would you recommend me trying?

    My Current Overdrive/Fuzz Pedals:
Analogman NKT, Fuzz Factory, Land of the Rising Fuzz, Beano Boost, KOT

    Guitar: 62 reissue fender strat
    Amp: original 1965 deluxe reverb.

Give a try on some skreddy pedals, the top fuel and screwdriver
sound like something you need. Or a cusack screamer fuzz maybe

    Keeley Fuzz head
    Carl Martin The Fuzz
    Demeter Fuzzulator

Or you might want to look into Muff variant like the Muskett or the Barber Trifecta.

I think my Throbak Overdrive Boost does that pretty well

Does the Dirty Bomb cover a lot of "dirty" ground? I guess I mean can it clean up OK with the guitar volume as well as get into a high-gain distortion? I am not a metal player but would like to have access to a fuzz/distortion tone for more agressive blues leads and harder rocking classic rock solos with more sustain than what I already have- I use a Blues Driver, an SD-1 and a Barber Direct Drive (all of which give me a clean boost to mid-gain solo tone, all with different flavor) can the Dirty Bomb do what it seems the Fulltone Catalyst, Cusack Scream Fuzz, Keeley Fuzz Head all seem to do, but for a few less $$? Those all sound wonderful to me BTW but the Dirty Bomb is $99 which does make a difference to moi! How about the MI Audio Blues Pro?

Your thread title basically describes the Screwdriver (know I'm not the first to suggest it & probably won't be the last).

The Rat is a nice high gain bridge and blend between the OD and Fuzz. I actually have a Hartman LM308AH for sale (which is high-end Rat with foot switchable overdrive).

    Shameless plug...I know.
