he was playing some funky looking pastel purple soldano rack with a carvin power amp...

he still sounded good, but really...were the Matamps too much to maintain?
his setup looks really strange and thrown together now...

it seemed like he had a new drummer too, but it's hard to tell. the guy just maybe got a haircut or something.

this other band they're touring with right now called The Bronx is pretty cool. the guitarist was playing a Vox AC30 with a Dan Armstrong plexi axe. sounded absolutely great...

    anyone caught this tour yet?

there was nothing better than seeing Sleep play "dopesmoker" aka "jerusalem" through their GREEN stacks.

yeah, the last time i saw High On Fire he was still rocking the 3 full Green stacks on stage - in a venue that held only 180 people..hahahah...it sounded like jets were landing on the roof.

i am a huge bronx fan. This tour was supposed to come through denver (tonight actually!) , but the date got cancelled. I saw high on fire last year and he was playing through a marshall plexi. weird.

Has anyone heard the bass player from HOF`s old band, the melvins? They are like crusty math-rock from the 80`s. Good stuff.

If memory serves correct, I believe there was a financial dispute between HOF and the former Matamp US distributor...

Joe wasn't on that album. He joined the band after the album was recorded and did the tour with them. He's on the new album coming out, but from what I hear he's leaving the band after the album comes out.

Matt stopped using Matamps and Greens because of reliability issues. They kept blowing up on him.

Melvins rule, far from crusty math-rock from the 80's. They're still around and kicking ass. Basically just a really good heavy rock band with no gimmicks, which is pretty rare these days. Joe Preston's solo thing, The Thrones, is awesome as well.
